Question by CameronHussey: Can long-term opiate\oxycotton use cause cronic stomach pains?
Hello, for the last year I have been abusing opiates (roxies) and have acquired a daily occuring chronic stomach pain at around 6 p.m. everyday (i’ve been off them for two weeks and the pain is still here, i got off them for about 5 weeks and the stomach pain never went away, thus i got back on them) I’m trying to avoid getting back on them this time but at this point I just can’t believe they are related. This stomach lower abdominal pain started about 6 months ago and has gotten to a point where im almost holding my stomach every night. I’ve tried tums, gas x, eating alot, not eating, acid reducers, diarrhea medicine, enemas to get me to use the bathroom, and even stuff to completely clean my system out. I can’t figure this out…nor can my doctor. Is it because maybe i was dehydrated for soooo long on the opiates and it destroyed my stomach? Is it because I have a mass ton of feces built up in my stomach i dont know. But that’s my life story….if anyone has ANNNNNNNYYYYY idea please put an answer. I’ve even been working out and eating healthy….nothing helps. Every night when i go to bed you can just hear my stomach growling and grumbling and when i wake up its not there until about 6 hours later. My doctor even gave me medicine specifically for stomach cramps…didn’t do ANYTHING.

p.s. if there is a way this could be caused by stress please let me know…even if my mind is screwing me over i’d like to atleast have an answer then I can go from there.

cigarettes make it worse…alcohol kinda makes it feel better…and when i lean on my left arm it kills the left side of my stomach right under the rib cage.
